About the Music Therapy Institute


For 20 years, the Music Therapy Institute has been the largest provider of professional music therapy services in the greater Westchester region, working individually and in small groups with over 2,000 children and adults each year. The Institute provides services onsite at the Music Conservatory of Westchester as well as throughout the county through the Institutes Outreach program.

Music Therapy uses the power of music in a focused way to accomplish growth, learning, healing and change. Individual programs created by certified music therapists are designed to meet the specific needs of each client. Music therapy can make a profound difference in the lives of individuals with a wide variety of special needs or illnesses. Music Therapy addresses specific needs such as communication skills, social skills, emotional expression and physical development.

All Music Therapy Institute Faculty hold advanced degrees in music therapy and are members of the American Music Therapy Association and the National Music Therapy Registry.

Founded in 1929, the Conservatory today serves over 3,500 students ranging in age from 6 months to 87 years, from 102 communities in a 5-county area and representing more than 30 nationalities. All students are accepted and encouraged to apply; our doors are open to everyone.
