White Plains, NY (September 30, 2009) – The Music Conservatory of Westchester’s annual
faculty concert series Live on Central is always impressive, but this year they’re taking it up a
notch. The Conservatory has a special series planned in honor of its 80th anniversary milestone
starting off with “Time Travel through Music,” featuring June Hyun, violin, and Barbara
Podgurski, piano, on Friday, November 13 at 7 p.m. in the Conservatory’s Helen Demetrios &
Michael Stadther Recital Hall.
The 80th anniversary Live on Central season is comprised of two separate series. Stars on
Central showcases the artistry of the Conservatory’s expert faculty in interactive, educationally
themed performances. Kids on Central concerts, which begin in January, offer children a fun,
informative, and hands-on introduction to the musical instrument families.
Of the former, Jean Newton, Dean of Students and Faculty at the Music Conservatory of
Westchester, said, “The Conservatory is fortunate to have a wonderful faculty who are active
performing artists. Live on Central showcases their talents, opens our doors to the whole
community, and gives our students the chance to hear their teachers perform in a concert
setting. The series is family-friendly and has the added benefit of an educational component, so
audiences learn about the music, the composers, and the rehearsal process.”
Tickets for all Live on Central events are $15; $10 for students and senior citizens; and free for
Conservatory students and faculty. For tickets or more information, call the Box Office at (914)
761-3900 x155. All tickets are held at the door and may be retrieved one half-hour before a
concert. Reservations are recommended.
