Georgia Pollak joins MCW Board

At its Oct. 22 board meeting, MCW appointed Georgia B. Pollak to its Board of Trustees. Pollak is Vice President for Communications and Public Affairs at Yeshiva University and a member of the President’s Cabinet. She joined the University in July 2005.  Pollak has over 30 years of experience in all areas of communications including media relations, advertising, print publications, Web development, and event management. Her work has spanned several academic institutions as well as leading international companies in consumer and industrial marketing.

Prior to Yeshiva University, she was at Sarah Lawrence College, where for six years she served as its spokesperson and Director of Communications for its undergraduate and graduate programs. Previously, she served as Vice President of Communications at American Friends of Hebrew University and Director of Development and Public Affairs at The Abraham Joshua Heschel School in Manhattan.

She also has extensive experience in the for-profit arena and holds an MBA from Columbia University and BA from University of Pennsylvania. She was account supervisor at Ogilvy & Mather Advertising Agency and McCaffrey & McCall. For over a decade, she headed a marketing consulting and research firm with a diverse client base of Fortune 500 and privately held corpora¬tions. In “ancient times” she worked in the public relations department of The Philadelphia Orchestra.  Pollak is also a playwright and an avid amateur pianist and composer—musical endeavors that she pursues as an adult student at the Conservatory. Her grown children are both MCW alumni.
