Harris was joined onstage by MCW ‘s renowned cellist Adriana Pera (far left) and Harris’ wife, Renee Guerrero, who teaches piano at MCW. Broadway Star Stops By MCW

Broadway star Alice Ripley appears on A-Sides with Jon Chattman, a weekly music series on asidesmusic.com that has appeared regularly on Huffington Post. The session was filmed at the Music Therapy Institute of the Music Conservatory of Westchester in White Plains. Ripley won a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical in 2009 for the Pulitzer Prize-winning “Next to Normal.” She is currently performing in New York City with her band Ripley in support of their new single “Beautiful Eyes.” In related news, the Conservatory is currently enrolling for its Summer Musical Theatre Workshop. Updated Info: “Gia” Giardina added to WinterBowl

Music Conservatory of Westchester (MCW) has announced that local pop sensation Tiffany “Gia” Giardina will perform at its upcoming WinterBOWL on Thursday, February 23. The event celebrates the 25th anniversary of MCW’s Music Therapy Institute, which serves over 2,000 children and adults each year. Eighteen-year old Giardina, a supporter of music education, has opened for Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, and more. She is a Radio Disney chart topper and has been cast in the upcoming Barbie movie, The Princess and the Pop Star for which Mattel will issue a doll in her likeness. Also performing is Adriana Pera, a renowned cellist and MCW faculty musician, and MCW’s popular Teen Rock & Jazz Ensemble. The event will take place at Grand Prix New York, 333 North Bedford Road, Mount Kisco and includes state-of-the-art bowling, kart racing, arcade games, food, and beer/wine (21+!). MTI Celebrates 25th Anniversary with “Dance the Night Away” Gala

On Friday, March 16, the Music Conservatory of Westchester (MCW) will present “Dance the Night Away,” an evening of dinner and dancing celebrating the 25th anniversary of the school’s Music Therapy Institute. Held at the C.V. Rich Mansion in White Plains, the event features live music by the acclaimed Don DuPont Big Band and a special performance by an MTI alumnus.

Bill Evans, meteorologist for ABC-TV, will host the event, and two community leaders will be honored.  Marsha Gordon, President and CEO of the Business Council of Westchester, will receive MCW’s Visionary Award for her outstanding commitment to the arts and longtime support of Westchester ARC. Alan E. Katz, MCW board member since 1997 and former board president, will receive the organization’s first Impact Award in recognition of his outstanding commitment and dedication to the Conservatory. The MCW Kids! Series (formerly Kids on Central) kicked yesterday, Jan. 29 , at White Plains Public Library with MCW faculty member Jim Ranti leading a discussion on brass instruments and a performance by his students. The audience was encouraged to ask the performers questions, and to see (and touch) instruments up close.

The next MCW Kids! event will be concert will take place Sunday, Feb. 12 also at White Plains Library. All Kids! events are free and open to the public.
