Lisa Deutsch (of Armonk) and Georgia B. Pollak (of White Plains) were recently selected to join the Board of Trustees of the Music Conservatory of Westchester. The Conservatory is a non-profit community school of the arts providing music, theatre education, and music therapy for people of all ages and abilities. The appointments were announced by Carol Shiffman, Executive Director.

Lisa Deutsch’s work in Westchester County has involved her in some of the nonprofit community’s most significant projects, and her career is comprised of a unique combination of work in the profit and nonprofit
sectors. Formerly Executive Director of the Music Conservatory of Westchester, she spearheaded the school’s $7.8 million Building Dreams Campaign and was recently honored with the formal dedication
of The Lisa Deutsch Faculty Recognition Wall. Deutsch was founding Executive Director of the New Orchestra of Westchester and later renamed the local cultural icon the Westchester Philharmonic. She
also founded Westchester Community College’s Department of Cultural Affairs. “The Music Conservatory of Westchester is a vital source of education and culture in our region,” said Deutsch. “I am honored to do what I can to advance its mission.”

She is currently Vice President for Marketing & Development at Guiding Eyes for the Blind, an international nonprofit guide dog school headquartered in Yorktown Heights. Deutsch has served on numerous boards and was formerly President of the Windmill Club in Armonk, Vice President of the Association for Women in Communications, and an Affiliate Representative on the Board of the Westchester Arts Council. She received her BA from the University of Pennsylvania and completed coursework at New York University’s Graduate School of Business Administration. Deutsch resides in Armonk with her husband, John, and has two grown children, Katrina and Sam.

Georgia B. Pollak is Vice President for Communications and Public Affairs at Yeshiva University. With over 30 years of experience in all areas of communications, her work has spanned several academic
institutions as well as leading international companies in consumer and industrial marketing. Prior to Yeshiva University, Pollak was with Sarah Lawrence College, American Friends of Hebrew University,
and The Abraham Joshua Heschel School in Manhattan. She was account supervisor at Ogilvy & Mather Advertising Agency and McCaffrey & McCall, and was also in the public relations department of The
Philadelphia Orchestra. A playwright, avid amateur pianist, and composer, Pollak continues her musical endeavors as an adult student at the Music Conservatory of Westchester. She has a daughter, Sarah, and son, Charlie, both Conservatory alumni. “There is no place in Westchester like the Conservatory,” said Pollack. “I am thrilled to be on the board and to help it in any way I can to get it the support it deserves. I started coming to the Conservatory twenty years ago as a parent. Now I’m back as a student.”

Pollack continued, “At the Conservatory I am surrounded by hundreds of like-minded music lovers at every age, from every background and level of ability – including those who come here for music therapy.
We want to be here because we know we will get an excellent program of learning in a warm and nonelitist place.”

Pollak was previously a trustee of Congregation Kol Ami in White Plains and served on the marketing committee of the White Plains Hospital and YWCA. She currently serves on the board of New Paths in
Music. Pollak received her BA from the University of Pennsylvania and holds an MBA from Columbia University. She and her husband, William, are long-time residents of White Plains, NY. The Music Conservatory of Westchester is located at 216 Central Avenue in White Plains, NY. They can be reached at (914) 761-3900 or by visiting www.musicconservatory.org.
